105 Days!

That's right! We're almost to 100's Night for PA school! Can't wait to be in the double digits ... and then singles. :) Adam and I are going to have to start looking for houses soon! Everything is moving so quickly and it's all so exciting!!

So, what have we been up to the last few weeks?? Well, we've been traveling home a lot lately, and the last couple of times we've gone out with Bryan and Whitney on their boat!
It's SUPER fun, and not gonna lie, being out on the boat is pretty convincing that lake life near family and friends can be just as fun as (if not more than) ocean life without family and friends near by.

This past weekend, Adam and I packed up and went out to Pensacola with the pups. We had a great time there, as usual. Here are a few pics...
Grabbing an appetizer on our first day at the beach

Dinner at Atlas on our second night
Adam and our rat-dog, Lucy
 Lucy's pensive pose
Marley's pensive pose. Both of these dogs need to be shaved badly. The good news is, that's happening tomorrow.
Lucy just gets so worried about her humans being in the water! (This is her mid-bark)
 Our goofy blonde girl
Lucy, pooped out after a long day on the beach followed by a refreshing bath

Oh! And there are two big adventures from the beach that I forgot to share. First, we went parasailing! I had never been before, and Adam had only been once. The girl at the counter told us it was like being in a giant swing set high up in the air, and that's pretty accurate. I was secretly a tiny big terrified being that high up because I knew if I fell that would be it, but it was still a ton of fun. I wish we could have stayed up there longer!

Our second adventure we just happened to stumble upon. Adam had googled something along the lines of "fun in Pensacola" and suddenly found something that said "If you're looking for fun in Pensacola, then Rosie O' Grady's Dueling Piano Show is the place to be!" We agreed it would be fun and different so we cleaned ourselves up and were out the door. I'm not kidding you, we stepped off the streets of Pensacola and into a wild wild west parlor. It was frickin' awesome. And frickin' huge, too. This place had seven rooms and nine bars. The entire thing was decked out to be like something from a movie. It was super neat. Adam said it reminded him of Vegas, of course I've never been. All of the servers and staff had fun costumes that fit right in with the feel of the place. And they even had a magician floating around doing private magic shows for guests. We had appetizers for dinner, then headed a few rooms over to the dueling piano show. We stayed there for the rest of the night because it was so entertaining! As it got later and later, the singers got crazier and we really just had a great time! We will definitely be going back there again. It seems like every time we go to Pensacola, we discover something new about the city and we just love it.

The day after we got back, I went to Mom and Dad's for the week, and that's where I am right now! As usual, it's been wonderful catching up with family, haven't seen a lot of friends though.

Anyway, I had a very reflective intent for this post, but I'm really just not in the mood right now. Basically, I can most definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's shining very, very brightly. The light is so bright, in fact, that it's a bit difficult at the moment to see from where the light is coming exactly. But day by day, the other side of the tunnel begins to show itself just a little more. I've come to realize that no matter who is the smartest in our class, or the hardest working or whatever, we'll all make it out of the tunnel one by one, alphabetically, as we cross the stage and shake the hands of our faculty members. 105 days.

Spring break!

Can't believe it's already come and gone!

Sooo, I've started my ER rotation. I had a lot of fun my first week and I start my second week tonight. I feel like I really lucked out being placed at this hospital for this rotation because they've given me a pretty sweet schedule. This week starts my night shift week. The variety of shifts (evenings, nights, and weekends) that we're required to do will keep things interesting, despite the fact that they may also be tiring. I'll report back on it all later.

So spring break! As always, it went by way too quickly. We started the first weekend of break in Georgia, for Adam's high school reunion. The reunion was held in a large pasture behind one of his classmate's houses and it was quite an interesting experience to say the least. :) For real though, it was fun seeing everyone I went to high school with, though many of them didn't remember me because their senior year I was only a wee little freshman.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, I met Lindsay in Athens and we went dress shopping! Of course I can't post any photos of her trying on dresses, but I can share this. :)

It was such fun! And I was so proud of her for being opinionated enough to actually say no to some of the dresses. (For those of you who don't know Lindsay very well, she can't make a decision to save her life. Love you, Linds!) :)

Adam worked from home Monday through Wednesday, and then Wednesday evening we drove to South Carolina to meet David and Natalie. Adam and I stayed at their place Wednesday night, then Thursday morning we all drove to Charleston together and unpacked in our beach house. David and Nat were both so good about taking photos, but I only took a few. I FULLY expect them to post photos and share them on facebook so that I can share them here. :)
View from our beach house. Natalie did a perfect job picking it out!

Ok so this plant is HUGE. Here's proof:

It's a century plant, aka American aloe, aka agave plant.

This is the view from a little seafood shop where we picked up dinner one night. It's where the plant is as well.

Lucy and Sadie cuddling one night :)

 The famous pineapple fountain

So then comes the beach photos...

Pretty Marley and all the crazy beach foam -- she's so much better at smiling for photos than Lucy. I ended up with more pictures of Lucy because she just didn't want to sit still!

Lucy kept getting foam all over her face. She did a great job of staying near us on the beach so we didn't even put her on a leash. She's loving the ocean more and more! I think they'll both be great Charleston dogs. :)

Candid group photos. These were literally taken seconds apart. Hilarious!
I just love this one!

Adam and his dog. :) Again, very candid, but I think the water is so pretty in this photo.

That concludes the photos I have from the trip. I promise to share the others soon! But one more quick thing... In one of my past posts, I mentioned that I worked a gala with Katie to raise money for their mission trip. I'll leave you with the photos from that event. Enjoy!

It was really cold, and we couldn't keep from shaking while taking photos of each other! Thus, some of the photos came out blurry. Oh well. But we had a great time!
Some nice medical student boys took this photo for us.

My very last ever summer break is over. :(

It's been a while! But believe me, I've had a fantastic break. Been too busy to stop and blog about everything. So, here's a recap of my break in pictures... enjoy!

For the first few days, I deep cleaned the apartment pretty well...it kinda needed it. :/ But let's not dwell on that. The first Friday of my break, Lucy and I went to Georgia to spend time with my mom. My dad had traveled out of town for some work so it was just a fun girls weekend! I spent lots of time with friends which was much needed, and I got to meet one friend's brand new sparkly baby boy! Very sweet.
Wednesday, I drove back to Birmingham and then on Friday, Adam and I packed up our stuff and went back to Georgia. On Saturday, I attended Whitney's baby shower (which was so adorably decorated, and the food was delicious!!) and Bryan and Adam took a motorcycle ride up to Dahlonega, GA. I had mentioned in a previous post that I had some DIY stuff planned for break and I was not kidding! After spending time on Google, Pinterest, and Etsy, I decided I was going to make Whitney a cute picture frame for her nursery. I really wanted it to match her colors and patterns, and what better way to display the frame than with a beautiful picture of Mrs. Preggo herself! This was the final outcome:
I was pretty happy with how it turned out!

Here are a few other photos from the shower:
Belly shot of Whitney (Left) and Bryan's cousin's wife. In Whit's belly is either Baby Jack or Baby Callie. We don't know which yet, but we're so anxious and excited to find out!
I collected the most pins in the "Don't say 'baby'" game ... only because Whitney was winning but then slipped up when talking about a baby show she attended, and I caught her! :)

On Sunday, we loaded up the truck and met Adam's family at the beach in Pensacola. Our condo was beautiful, as was the view! We had a great time. One rainy day we went to the National Naval Aviation Museum. It was incredible!
The picture on the right is moon rock! How cool is that?!
A 360 degree simulator. :)

One morning we woke up and noticed a ship wreck! Or at least that's what we thought it was. Turns out it was a target boat for the Navy to practice blowing it up. During the storm the night before, it had somehow drifted to shore.
One afternoon we rented a boat. Tammy caught a squid and Joel caught a catfish and a shark!
If you notice in this first picture of Joel's shark, you can see that the shark actually broke Joel's fishing pole!
Pretty shot of a storm rolling in one day. I loved watching it from our balcony.
We also went to a Beatles cover band concern and danced the night away!

We got back to Birmigham on Thursday and then the next day my parents brought the dogs and came into town. It was so nice to just have them here and the dogs were very excited to be back home (but after spending two weeks with my mom, Lucy is pretty depressed about her Grammie leaving :( )
My dad hung some pictures for us, which makes our apartment so much more like a home!

This, below, is something Mom and I had worked on back when I was in Georgia with her. Remember the birdcage succulent plant holder thingy I'd mentioned a few posts back? (You can find that post here.) Well our Pier 1 store in Athens is relocating and they had e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g in their store marked down/on sale. So instead of buying a birdcage, we purchased an antiqued lantern. It had glass in it but we just took that out. I love the way this looks, and I almost think it works even better because it provides more support for the plants.
I'm not completely finished with it. I'd like to add a small ground covering succulent, something like John Creech, but Mom and I both agree that I need to let the current plants root before I disturb them anymore. We found a super cute table at HobbyLobby for the lantern to sit on and I'm loving it out on my patio!

Last thing --
In my post referenced above, I also mentioned making a wreath for my SIL. It's still in the works, but it's coming along well enough for me to share with all of you!
My SIL had requested that I make her a very large wreath, and I wasn't able to find anything already that size, so I made my own wreath base. I bought some pool noodles at the dollar store and then taped them together with duck tape. Then to hide the tape/blue noodle, I wrapped the entire wreath in regular burlap. I couldn't find a pack of only blue burlap rosettes like the ones in the picture she sent me, so I decided to buy a small pack of teal/turquoise ribbon burlap and make my own. I used this post from Craftaholics Anonymous as a guide for making them. While I was at HobbyLobby for the burlap ribbon, I also bought a wooden B. With some black paint I already had, I painted it and then voila! The "toppings" of my wreath were completed. I've started adding chevron burlap to the wreath, but I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with it. The good news is, since I've pinned the chevron burlap down with floral pins, I can start over and redo it at anytime.

Anywho, that's about all I've done this break! :) It's been wonderful! Now for my last didactic semester. Let's do this!
